Bonnie Blue Flag
The Bonnie Blue Flag was a blue flag with a white star in the center that was used as a symbol of independence and secession during the American Civil War. It was also the name of a popular Confederate marching song.
History of the flag
- The flag was used as early as 1810 by the Republic of West Florida
- It was flown by the Republic of Texas
- It was used as the unofficial flag of the Confederacy in 1861
- It was flown above Confederate batteries that opened fire on Fort Sumter, starting the Civil War
